Get Certified in Diversity: Apply for the Diversity Certificate Program 

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion plays a vital role in making our enterprise stronger – both for teammates and patients. The Advocate Health Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion offers an award-winning Diversity Certificate Program. This 6-week virtual program consists of classes designed to enhance participants’ understanding and empathy according to the following objectives: 

  • Enhance cultural competencies in workforce and care delivery practices 
  • Leverage diversity, equity and inclusion for optimal impact with teammate engagement 
  • Understand how to minimize the impact of unconscious bias and micro-inequities in decision-making 
  • Improve cross-cultural communication and conflict resolution skills 
  • Enhance interpersonal effectiveness in multicultural work environments 
  • Develop a process for lifelong learning of DEI 

An Award-Winning Program

Advocate Health was awarded with the 2017 Gold Award for Excellence in Workforce Management by the Brandon Hall Group, for its efforts in developing and implementing the Diversity Certificate Program. 

Program Eligibility Requirements  

  • Commitment to attending the Program in its entirety; you are allowed to miss one day EXCEPT Day 1 (Mandatory attendance is required for the Program Orientation/Day 1)  
  • Teammate must be in good standing – no disciplinary actions taken or pending, including counseling for improved performance (e.g. written, final written, etc.)  
  • Your direct supervisor’s approval is required for all applicants to the Program. Obtaining this approval is the applicant’s responsibility 
  • Applicant statement of acceptance of this responsibility is required to submit this application 

Spring 2025 Cohort

Starting March 5 and going through April 9, the next program will take place once a week via Microsoft Teams virtual platform for six consecutive weeks from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. (CST) /9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (EST). Please obtain your direct supervisor’s approval before applying for the program. All teammates are welcome to apply. To provide a good environment for discussion and collaboration, program size may be limited. You must apply by November 18, 2024 for a chance to be selected. Applications will be accepted November 1 through November 18.
