Atrium Health requires current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider (HCP), BLS Instructor, or American Red Cross Basic Life Support status. Life Support cards must be good for at least 90 days from date of hire.

BLS/CPR

In CORE Connect, upload a copy of the front and back of your BLS/CPR card OR your BLS/CPR eCard. Your Atrium Health New Teammate Orientation date may be delayed if BLS/CPR requirements are not met.

BLS/CPR card requirements by region: 

  1. Greater Charlotte Region and Wake Forest Baptist: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider or Instructor card or American Red Cross Basic Life Support card.  
  2. Floyd: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider card or Instructor card.  
  3. Navicent: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider or Instructor card or American Red Cross Basic Life Support card is required for onboarding; validation of Basic Life Support Skills in accordance with current American Heart Association BLS or American Red Cross BLS standards.  
  4. BLS/CPR cards must be current a minimum of 90 days after the date of hire.

Renew Your BLS for Healthcare Providers Card

  • The cost of HeartCode BLS Online (Part 1) and BLS Skills Check (Part 2) will be covered by the Center for Life Support Education (CLSE) for all Atrium employees, both onboarding and current
  • HeartCode BLS Online (Part 1) and BLS Skills Check (Part 2) must be completed prior to Atrium Health New Teammate Orientation. 

Follow the steps below. All steps must be followed. There are no exceptions. 

Complete HeartCode BLS online Learning (Part 1)

  1. Request HeartCode BLS Online Learning (Part 1) 
         a. Onboarding teammates can request HeartCode BLS Online Learning (Part 1) through their HR Talent Acquisition Partner.  
         b. Current teammates can request HeartCode BLS Online Learning on the CLSE SharePoint Site.  
  2. Complete HeartCode BLS Online course. Pass exam and complete survey. 
  3. Print the Course Completion Certificate
  4. Participants MUST bring HeartCode BLS Online (Part 1) completion certificate to BLS Skills Check (Part 2).

If you do not pass Heartcode BLS Online course, go online to https://elearning.heart.org to purchase another Heartcode BLS Part 1 link and retake the online course. 

BLS Skills Check (Part 2) must be completed within 60 days of completing HeartCode BLS Online (Part 1).

Complete BLS Skills Check (Part 2)

  1. Visit http://atriumhealth.enrollware.com/schedule to register for BLS Skills Check (Part 2). 
  2. Click BLS Hands on Skills Session (Part 2) to view the class schedule 
  3. Complete the website registration onboarding teammates use personal email address, current teammates please use Atrium email. 
  4. Ensure your email address is correct. A confirmation form will be emailed upon receipt of registration 

Upon successful completion of HeartCode BLS Online (Part 1) and BLS Skills Check (Part 2), an eCard will be issued for the course. It is the student’s responsibility to claim the eCard and upload the eCard to CORE Connect.
