To submit your PTO request in CORE Connect, follow these steps:

New! All teammates must use CORE Connect to submit their PTO Requests and record Paid Time Off. All PTO requests, including paid time off, bereavement and jury duty, are made in CORE Connect > Time and Absences module:

  1. In the Time and Absences section, select Add Absence
  2. From the Type drop down, make a selection
  3. In the When section, click Edit Entries button
    • Click the Add button
    • Choose the Date for your absence request
    • Enter the Absence Duration
    • To record your time, click the OK button

It is crucial that absence requests are entered, approved and accurate in CORE Connect. Teammates, leaders and time approvers can only add, edit or remove absence requests, such as paid time off, bereavement, jury duty, absent time (unpaid) and time out for prevention, in CORE Connect.

Absence Requests can no longer be edited in Kronos.

  • Approved absence requests will import into Kronos the next day.
  • Partial Day PTO: For Salaried teammates, if your teammate has a partial day of PTO taken, make sure they have entered the remaining worked hours in Kronos to total their normal scheduled hours for the day.

For Leaders and Time Approvers

All absence requests must be submitted and approved by midnight Sunday prior to payroll Monday.

Additional Information

If a teammate applies for PTO but does not take the PTO, what will happen?
A teammate or leader can cancel the PTO request within CORE Connect if it is within a reasonable amount of time to the scheduled PTO request date. Teammates will be able to cancel the PTO request prior to the date requested. Leaders can cancel past PTO requests. The hours will then be added back to the teammates balance.

Will CORE Connect impact API/ShiftSelect or Staff Scheduling?
No. CORE Connect will not impact ShiftSelect. There will be integration from CORE Connect to ShiftSelect, and the project team is currently working with members of the ShiftSelect team to optimize this process. Approved PTO requests will feed directly from CORE Connect to ShiftSelect. PTO approvals will occur in CORE Connect.

Bereavement Leave

Atrium Health extends sympathy and understanding to any teammate who has experienced the death of a close family member. Through the Total Rewards program, teammates are encouraged to take time off when they have lost a loved one. This time off allows teammates to grieve, handle family affairs, and attend the funeral or memorial service. This time is important for the health and well-being of a teammates experiencing this type of loss.
