We Honor Vets &

         No Veteran Dies Alone

Atrium Health participates in the “We Honor Vets” and
“No Veteran Dies Alone” programs in collaboration with the
National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization, and the
Department of Veterans Affairs. By recognizing the unique needs
of veterans and their families, community providers learn how

to accompany and guide them through their life stories toward a
         more peaceful ending.

         Code Honor

Upon admission at Atrium Health Mercy, patients are asked if they
are veterans. Veterans are told that we are honored to serve them and
asked if they would like a flag magnet placed outside their door.

Upon a veteran’s passing, his or her folder is marked red and includes
the Code Honor protocol, a policy put in place to honor deceased
members of Armed Services, with a United States flag covering the
stretcher as the deceased veteran is taken to the morgue. Jimmy Autry, patient and Army veteran, being honored
by Atrium Health teammates and an agency partner.
